T H E I N D I V I D U A L I S C A P I T A L | IDEA: FATHER
This image is of my father; father of four. Individual due to being mine and my siblings father, and I feel he is a huge part of my life, and look up to him as an idol.
I chose a one light set up, on the side of his face creating a strong shadow on the side of his face, leaving the rest lit, creating a strong and powerful portrait, revealing textures around his face, with contrasting harsh lighting on the other side, showing the colour on his face. Also the background is slightly lit, creating a grey background so the subject doesn’t get absorbed into the image, creating a better depth, letting him stand out from the background. This creates a more welcoming image, adding a less serious tone to it, making the subject more appealing and likeable.
I roughly entered the subject, cropping the top and bottom to give a stronger focus to the facial expression. This is also helped in the landscape style, giving him room and creates a less claustrophobic portrait, as I feel most portrait shot portraits look.
